Your Student Technology Fee at Work

Student Technology Fee Program

Students at LSU Eunice are charged a technology fee in the amount of $5 per credit hour up to a maximum of $60 each semester. Proceeds from these fees are used to fund student technology resources throughout the campus. Each fall, campus departments and organizations submit requests for funding to the Student Technology Fee Committee. This group reviews requests and allocates funding for projects to be completed during that academic year. The committee is composed of faculy, staff, and student members. Oversight of the funds and management of the project is performed by the Director of Information Technology.

A sample of recent projects include:

  • All computing labs on campus are refreshed every three years. Three labs will be updated this academic year.
  • The campus will subscribe to TurnitIn. An online service to assist students with writing assignments.
  • A number of Science Laboratories will be updated to include large screen multimedia displays and other discipline specific equipment.
  • High speed connectivity to the Louisiana Optical Network and Internet2.
  • Enhanced online library services to include access to thousands of e-books that can be accessed online from anywhere.
  • Enhanced online helpdesk services for students that will include access to thousands of online video tutorials on various software packages ranging from Microsoft Office to the TI-Inspire calculator. New hardware will also allow IT staff members to remotely assist students away from campus with PC related problems.
