Wireless Access on Campus

 | Staff | Labs | Classrooms |Telephones |

LSUE was one of the first schools in the country to provide users with campus-wide wireless network access and is still one of the few in Louisiana to provide campus-wide coverage.

What Can I do?

  • Surf the Net

  • Use myLSUE

  • Read Email

  • Access Library Databases

  • View online courses

  • And more!

Where can I use it?

Anywhere on campus including classrooms,  the library, and outside areas.

How do I get connected?

Purchase a wireless network card.  The card must support the 802.11b standard.  The Orinoco/Agere cards are highly recommended but most should work.  These may be purchased at many area locations including Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc.

Once you receive the card, bring it and your laptop to the LSUE Office of Information Technology, Manuel Hall Room 105 for installation.  See the list of requirements in the sidebar to the right for connecting to the LSUE network.

The wireless Network will ONLY provide access while you are on campus.  It will NOT work from home.

Wireless access must be reactivated each semester by visiting the IT Office.

Before your Connect

All devices wishing to connect to the campus network must be fully patched with the latest operating system updates as well as running an up-to-date anti-virus package.
